Improving voltage

So last year I got all new gear for SPL and ended up producing some half decent numbers for Street A, but right now i`m not getting the full potential out of my amp due to major voltage drop in my electrical system.

At idle i`m getting around 13.8 volts and as i run my system full tilt (only 3-5 second burps) it drops down 10.5 volts.

I`m running a Atomic 5K, with 2 runs of 0 gauge from the battery to the trunk (250 amp fuses in each run) and 2 runs of 0 gauge for the grounds. I have upgraded the big 3 to 0 gauge wire and im running an optmia blue top for my battery with a stock alt (car is a 2004 sunfire)

I have talked to a few people about my issue and some are saying that i need to get a HO alt and others are saying that i need to upgrade my battery. I know both would be beneficial but i`m going back to school this year and money is tight but I want to get my voltage up as much as possible for this coming season.

I'd like to get some opinions on which route i should go with out breaking the bank. (I've hear that a HO alt can run me almost a grand due to having to get an alt custom made, then taxes and shipping and what not).

thanks in advance.

Being in street A , you aren't running your car during competition anyhow, so a HO alternator won't help for that situation.

The battery supplies the juice, I'd get a better battery, lose the fuses or at least raise the amperage of them .(ie 250) then you should some more current for the burps.
Maybe a couple more runs of 1/0 also.
Charging your batt. after each run never hurts either

i totally forgot about not running the car, so yea it makes sense that an alt wouldn't be any benefit. Being in NS and not having sanctioned events we always had our cars running, so i never had to worry about charging the battery but it's something that i will have to do now that I'm sticking to the official rules. (hoping to make it out to a official db event in Quebec or Ont this summer)

I have been talking to DB Don a bit and he's saying that the NSb75 is gonna be the best battery for me. anyone know where i can get one in Canada? i cant seem to find their retailers online.

As for the fuses i was wrong they are 250 amp ANL fuses, so thats covered.

I always heard kinetic are very expensive. Maybe that's the reason why some people don't recommend them?

well on the kinetik site there saying that the KHC2000 suggested retail is 449.99, so i'm gonna have to shop around a little and see what kind of prices i can get the odessy 1750 and the shuriken equivalent of the kinetik KHC2000, but i will check out c & c technology too.

thanks for all the help guys, muchly appreciated
