the fuses are in case there is a power spike or short it stops the flow of electricity from continuing up the wire to your amp so it doesn't blow it up or burn you car to the ground

bump for update,

i finally got the rest of my fuses and fuse holders today. so i'm gonna start running my power cables tomorrow.

what i have planned it to run 4+ and 4- from the batt to buss bars and then 2+ and 2- from the buss bars to my amp.

I'm wondering about the length of cable from the buss bars to the amp. I'd like to be able to hide my buss bars under my rear seats and then run the leads from there to my amp, which is only about 3 feet. Is that too long from the buss bars to the amp? or should i have it shorter?

I think they are all clear anough about cables.

Shorter cables + bigger cables + more cables = Better

If you run 4x10feet of 2/0 wires to a bussbar, but only one 2/0 (lets say 3 feet) cable to the amp, you end up with nearly the same result than using one 2/0 from front to back.

if this is the case, why do i have 3 different people telling me that i should do multiple runs to a buss bar then to my amp?

Yes, but if you reduce the cabling after the bussbar, you end up using smaller wire.

See it as water and tube.

Even if you have a 20 feet long 10inch diameter tube that can run X water per second and you end up in a 2 feet 5 inch tube.... you end up with the amount of water that can pass trough the 5inch tube.

The more/big wire that you can run from batt to amp, the best it can be. Using a bussbar isnt bad, but dont reduce to much your wire from the bar to the amp.

Run your 4 2/0 from front to the nearest possible to the AMP. I know that the amp cant take 4 wire into it but the best is still to try to have the shortest possible smaller/less wires. Have 4 from batt to amp is still the better. Using a bar to connect the 4 wire to the amp.
