I know the posters got a little confuddled between the channels affected by one of the settings above but if you are using a subsonic (or infra-sonic for the nit-pickers.....) and a LPF for your sub you are in fact creating a passband filter. Works the exact same way (and for the same reasons) as the ones used for midbass drivers but at a lower set of frequencies.
