Need some basic wiring help please
#1
Okay, my car has a Bose deck which so far I intend on keeping (I know it blows but if you have seen a Mazda 6 dash than you know what a bitch it is to swap out). The amp for the speakers is actually seperate and mounted under the passenger seat. I am about to install a JL 500/5 to power my whole set-up, but have a couple of quick questions:
The JL amp only excepts RCA's and NOT speaker wire. I assume that the wiring going from the deck into the factory amp is low level and coming out of the amp is high level....correct? If so, how do I connect RCA's? Can I just splice them into the speaker wires before the amp and plug those into my JL amp? I have heard of some people using a LOC on the Mazda 6 boards....do I need to go that route?
Any/all help would be appreciated.

My friend, you are in need of Audio Control's awesome new piece of audio gear, The LC6. This is a multi channel line output adaptor and sub level controller. It will take 4 channels of input and give you 6 channels of high voltage output and a all important sub level controller as well.

Wow, that thing sounds great.....but do I NEED one? I am tight on funds right now, though I would spend the money if I had to. Are there any good places to get AudioControl products in T.O.?
Once again, thanks for the help.

You can buy el-cheapo adapters from any car audio place that convert high-level speaker line into RCA line; they typically suck though but will get the job done if required.
However, in all likelihood, the output of your factory headunit to the amp in the trunk is low-level RCA type signal. You can probably just 'cut' the signal carrying wire from your headunit to the amp and solder RCA ends onto it and you will be good-enough. BUT, since that cable probably costs at least $100 from the dealer, I would try a local junkyard and try to get the end at the back of the headunit (the headunit will most likely be removed). With that peice, you can take out YOUR head, disconnect the signal cable, connect your little peiece of cable and solder long peices of RCA from there.
Another way to go might be the easiest of them all. If I am right about the signal wire basically being an RCA (much like the JBL stuff in Fords) then you can PROBABLY go to your local car audio store and buy an adapter that will connect directly to that amplifier wire; they have them for the JBL setups.
