problem with my deck

I got a problem with my Pionneer avh unit.. I was playing music, and all of a sudden the audio stopped comingfrom the speakers, but the bass plays from the subwoofer... The 4 speakers I have are hooked by wiring harness (not to a seperate amp) anyone else having this same problem? or have any idea what it could be? pls help me lol

Could be that the deck fuse blew. There are often two power wires feeding the deck, one small wire for the small signal electronics and another heavier wire with a fuse for the built-in amplifiers. Since the pre-outs are working I'm betting you just blew that fuse. It would be a huge fluke to blow all the amps at once. If the fuse is the cause then check all your speaker wires for possible pinch points before powering up again.

Or one speaker has dead shorted and is sending the internal amp into protection... Disconnect all speakers and test each speaker individually.

I would be interested in seeing an example of this. What brand and model of deck has a seperate power wire for the internal output section and a seperate one for the low level pre-amp sections?

Only one's I can think of with 2 power wires are CLarions. One is a pass-through for the Cnet CD changer since their accessories have no seperate power wires. sBut that has nothing to do with the internal amp...

Blaupunkt had seperately powered internal amp on their flagship model a few years ago as well.. gave 25Wrmsx4@5%THD via a Mosfet IC

My old Panasonic (something like CDQ1301) was like this. The fuse blew and the pre-outs were still going.
