box help please

hi. okay so i want to build my first ported box, the subs i'm going to use are 2 rockford p312d4, i have them in a very small sealed box and it isn't that loud, i was wondering if i will hear a difference in my new box, also what should i tune the box to be to, i'm new at this is if i can get some help i will really appreciate it, btw i'm going to wire them down to 1 ohm putting 1000 rms, thanks in advance

I've always tuned my boxes to 35hz. 30-35hz is generally what you want to tune to.

Around the tuning fq, you will have up to 3db increase in sound over a sealed box which means that in the sealed box, your amplifier would have to be putting out twice as much power to produce the same volume.

There are more pros than cons to using a properly built and tuned ported box, but try for yourself and see what suits you better.
