Home audio build.

Curious how u might go about building a home audio box for 3 10" DC audio lvl2 subs , not to sound clueless, ive built multiple car boxes but home audio far as i know is completly different. My brother just wants it for lower end mid bass / explosions etc. Far as actual mid and highs hes got like 20 other speakers at the moment hooked up for that lol , i kno its a joke but its nice to hear in his little 18 by 18 room . They gonna be powered by a Harmon kardon amp , dunno which model but hes already got 3 atm lol.

So the basic question , What will fit these needs? i was just gonna tune a car audio style box higher than normal and go with it since it wont be always playing......

Btw he wants all 3 in a single cabinet with magnets facing out(inverted?!) . and wants ported , as hes all about wat makes a car loud makes a room loud lol.

All and any input/suggestions/any feedback greatly appreciated.

Normally, for home theater you would like it tuned lower than for car audio. You need low bass for explosions, effects etc.
I wanted my home subs for Music as well as Movies, so I didn't take all the suggestions about tuning for 25Hz. I use two 15's tuned for 32Hz. Since my front 4-way speakers go pretty low, I have the AVR crossover at 50Hz and I let the AVR do the Eq and level setup. I use a stereo amp and a Y connector. 450W @ 2 ohm each.
To make it look good, I used pine veneer particle board, glued and screwed Oak trim on all pieces and painted it with 4 coats of black lacquer. They came out pretty shiny but you can still see the wood grain. I finished them off with grills using acoustic cloth.

about the same. in both worlds the stronger the box the better. since you have room make the box bigger and brace the out of it. use flared round ports to eleminate port noise.

My experiences building HT subs have been a lot of fun.....I find firing either the port or driver at the floor helps with that shakin the foundation feeling....

If he wants to run 3 10s inverted for SFX purposes and that killer look, if he can put the box in a corner it will help a lot. Port facing down or back against the wall seem to give the best results, keep the box at least 5 or 6" away from the corner walls so that corner-loading effect is maximized.

If he has lots of power on tap, the folks who build IMAX theaters use sealed JBL 18" bass bins with a really big amp for bottom end.....if it works for them......you can guess the rest.....
