Arrow New box for my trunk

I spent some time today, and measured out my trunk a bit, and whipped up a REALLY ROUGH mock up of the boxes I will be building for my trunk.

My biggest concerns are how I can blend it all in to my trunk, and how do I cut the hole to put the sonotubes into so they go in straight, and seal up nicely.

There will be two of these boxes, and an amp in the middle if i have room for it.

I will keep this thread updated with the build as I progress, but it will be slow, as I'm kind of short on cash, and it will take time and planning to build these.

Anyway, here are pics of the design, the trunk, and the cardboard mock up.

The first image is the trunk itself, the second image is what I had in mind, and sort of how the box will fit in the trunk, though it isn't to scale obviously.
And thirdly is the cardboard mock up.... rough as , but its a basic idea, and I believe the measurements are correct.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

ok, some questions for experienced box builders.

How do I cut the tube at the correct angle, so it mounts straight and true on the box.

How do I cut the hole on the angled board with the correct angle to the edges so that the tube will slide into the snugly and straight, and mounted on center.

How do i figure out what size and shape i would have to cut the oblong hole in the angled board? Obviously it wont just be a circle.

How do i duplicate the measurements and cuts so that both boxes are exact mirror images of each other?

I have a rotary saw, so that makes cutting holes much easier, its just a matter of trying to figure out the above questions.

would it be possible to port these boxes into my cab, by adding a vent somewhere that would come up through the trunk into the little ledge under the back window (where the third brake light is)

then i would have bass ported into my cab.

This was an idea i had for my trunk install, quick drawup so dont laugh haha.
You seem to have some skills, going by the cardboard mock up, For your design I would suggest cutting the sonotube angles first and then pencil around those onto the angled surface, Then use your rotary cutter with a level attatched to cut the holes true and straight.
I would also leave the sonotubes a few inches longer thean you want them to be and trim them after they are attatched to the box so you can get them both same length......

i made a better mock up, the first draft looked ugly as hell, the second ones are more accurate, but the measurements are still a bit off... I'll have to be more careful with my cuts on the real model, and account for the size of the blade too.

As for the tubes, this proves to be my largest challenge, not only cutting the tube on an angle, but getting the perfect angle on the tube to EXACTLY match the angle on the board. Also cutting the hole for the tubes to go into. Being that the tube is on an angle, that means the hole will be oblong, and i know there is math that could figure out how and where the hole should be, but i dont know that math

Now, what would i use to cut the holes in the back ledge of my car. i know its metal, but I haven't determined how possible it will be. The ports wouldn't be very long, so i may have to vent the sub boxes through the actual sonotube, with another tube coming off of it, and running into the cars cab.

The speakers will be facing the trunk opening, there are no speakers in my back deck, so the subs will be blasting backwards, and the boxes would be vented into my cab.

I may have to go talk to a pro installer about this, since there doesnt seem to be much available here.

you need a wrap-around

http://www.pces.uk.com/wraparound

and this really cool little book called the "pocket ref"

http://www.amazon.com/Pocket-Ref-Thomas-J-Glover/dp/1885071000

thats the best pic i could find i used these to do tons of stuff like that with steel pipe and a welder

if you need help send me a pm and ill try to explain there is enough info in this book and on that wrap around to build anything

Ive actually gotthat book, and a handymans pocket ref..... still gotta get the auto pocket ref

My dad might have a wrap around, but i dont know if its big enough to go around a 12" tube.

I was thinking that i could just draw the angle out flat on some cardboard, cut out the triangle, and then wrap that around the tube.
