size of box

i'm just wondering if the size of a box has any effect to the sound. i believe i have 1.6 cubic feet for each of my subs and i was wondering what would happen if i say increase it to 2 or 2.5?

Those subs do not like larger enclosures. The larger the enclosure, the less power handling they will take. They are a more SQ oriented woofer.

If you do plan on a larger enclosure, I wouldn't do anything more than 2 cubic feet per woofer.

What do you feel you lack with the way it sounds now?

ahh.

i think it's just not low enough. but i'm not sure if it's my amp or the loc. i had it lower on the old setup, but not loud enough.

i need to take a day or 2 and find all the dam rattles in my car as well properly mount my amp. the lid rattles on it since it's so large. it sounds great when the bass note is long, but it doesn't seem to sound as good with quick beats. sloppy sounding.

The LOC is one thing. SInce I know you wanna keep the stock deck, you should look into a Line driver. Cheaper ones can be found for under $100 online. I think that will help out alot.

How is your voltage like at the amp?

i can't think of the model name, but i was looking at the MTX line driver.

voltage over all is fixed, still need a higher amp alt. my volts measure at the battery terminals in the back are no lower then 12v, though mostly doesn't go below 13v. from the battery to the amp is about 2-3 feet of wiring. as in my sig 4 runs of 4 gauge for the power and ground run each.

Voltage seems fine.

I would look into a line driver. Better preout voltage to the amp does nothing but good for your system.

Also check the settings on your amp. Purhaps your subsonic filter is up to high and might be crossing off some of the low notes. I wouldn't have it any higher than 25hz as that enclosure should play down that low no problem.

Ya just check.

As for the line driver, something like the Lanzar OPTID100 would be ideal for you. It'll boost preout voltage up to 7V which is better than 90% of the headunits out on the market.

Line drivers can be found online. I picked that one cause it was cheap and had good features.

ANd YES you would have to reset your gains. if anything, they would be all the way down due to the higher preout voltage
