I can't give an opinion on both subs as I have never heard the Alpine sub's.. But what I can say is i have owned both of JL's lower end subs (w0's / w3's) and have been quite happy with them. Providing your not over powering them and crossed over properly they work great.

I'd go the type r's, cause thats what i have now...and i think they were a good choice.

But if i was to do it all over again, and could afford to buy everything at once instead of piecing it together over like 3 years....i'd buy a single w6v2 or v3 whatever they're on....then buy another one a year down the road.

can't debate 2 w6's vs 2 type r's can ya?

Name one, and everyone better ignore their enclosure design programs... they are based on theory and #s and are all wrong...

Umm.. linear excursion is LOW IMO, considering pe. And you don't even know what they consider 'linear'...

Also you have NO IDEA HOW FLAT BL IS BECAUSE THIS ISN'T JUST A PARAMETER- Having a high BL dosnen't mean anything on its own...

A HIGHER SENSITIVITY 1w/1m @ 1khz GENERALLY MEANS JACK FOR A SUB (so what is decent about it?)

You really need to stop debating stuff Iam not even talking about

For everyone else, its the discussion of the standard parameters and what they really mean, how they were derived, ect.. that I see as being relavent when discussing how good a speaker/sub will sound in a proper enclosure...

You don't get it..

all I said was high Xmax with linear BL and low distortion caused by Le.

See if you can find a subwoofer with all that that sounds bad in its intended application... you won't..

Xmax params arnt always derived the same way.. which is why I'd want to discuss them... The other stuff I menion either needs to be explained by the manufacturer or be tested independently...
