1 JL W6V2 vs Two Apline 12" Type R
IMO,
bizarro was around before that episode. In that episode they were taking about bizarro Superman when in actuality, bizarro Superman already existed that's why they had the topic in the first place.
If you don't know what bizarro Superman is he is the complete opposite of Superman.
BTW, I would go with two IDQ12's over a pair of Type R's or a single 12w6v2.
If I were considering buying one 12w6v2 now and a second 12w6v2 down the road I would just save a bit more cash and buy a single 13W7 and put more power to the single driver.

To be honest there isn't really much point in owning a W7 over a W6v2. I mean not that many people listen at volumes where the sub is getting over 500W RMS, and if they are, they definately have some hearing problems.
I do own a W7, and I'm starting to wonder why I am keeping it and selling the W6v2 Both sound the same to me off of a JL 500/1, and I definately can't get to max volume before my ears can't take it anymore. I can't imagine how loud a W7 would be playing with a full 750 -1000 W RMS.

haunz, lets leave it at this, if you think that 3 parameters on a peice of paper(which you said ar typically wrong) can tell you if a speaker will sound good, great. if you have read the cookbook, as you said you have, show me some eveidence to support your claim. you come here and say how important these parameters are, which they are, but then say that the parameters that we get from manufacturers and the software used to get it isnt accurate wrong, how can we believe the magic 3 you talk about, according to you only if the speakers are tested by and independent source are they to be accurate, i amazed you cant hear my laughter from wherever you are

Well, I waited long enuf to read this thread and I just KNOW you all want my opinions
These are kinda random:
Nah - last time it was 4.2db IIRC correctly
And yes that was actually measured on an AC3055, not just a guess in the wind or a comparison on a design program.
I have heard and played with a few speakers where some surprised me based on their T/S specs while others left me dissappointed. While I still feel compelled to read the specs of a driver, for me the proof is in the listening.
Superman got sucked into an alter dimension that DC dubbed Bizarro World where people acted and said the opposite of this dimension. Unfortunately DC thought this was amusing and tormented readers for years with the concept

ask dukk if every time he vents something(every time) does he only get 3 db compared to sealed,

Dan, I feel many people listen to systems with more than a single 12" and 500rms and still have very good hearing.
It's one thing to build a car to be louder than another in the lanes or in the school parking lot but other people, like myself, build a car so THEY are happy with it. The initial build on my car car had two Boston Acoustics PRO12's with a 600rms amp to them. While this system sounded quite good and got relatively loud it was not enough for my tastes.
Upgraded to a single RE HC15 with 1200rms and it was pretty much perfect for daily. Great sq and it got loud enough for anyone who got in the car including myself for daily commutes.
I've since changed to my current system. While it showcases a ton of power it was built with sq in mind as it can sound excellent at daily levels but I can also showcase it's WOW factor when needed.
The plan for this system was simple: Be able to put in any listening material and have the ability to listen to it as loud and clear as anyone wants it. I believe it has been achieved.
I commute on the highway and very often listen to music at levels that would surpass that achievable by a single 12W6 with 500rms. I'm not saying my system is flat out but that small system wouldn't have enough for me on a lot of material. So for me that setup just wouldn't be enough and I can assure you my hearing is still top notch.
Also, Bizarro Superman showed up in the Superman TV cartoon. He was created by Lex Luther and although he started out just like the real Superman he quickly changed into the complete opposite of him (although he was also in love with Lois Lane). He ended up dying at the end while doing a good deed and saved Lois. So while there was a Bizarro world, there was also a Bizarro Superman.
