hope this helps
This is true. I installed my HU this way and have had no problems at all. Any installer that tells you that you need the relocation kit is very misinformed, especially since cavaliers/sunfires are probably some of the most common cars driven in Canada.

And the main reason for the chimes is to warn when you leave the lights on. The doors will not lock if the car is off and you leave the keys in the ignition. Nice little feature.

yeah exactly WTF?? lol oh well they do make a bracket to convert 4*6 to 6.5" right I went to the audio store they gave me this bracket and to my surprise doesn't hold a 6.5" only 5 1/4" so I take it back to them they say on they don't make one for a 6.5" when In fact I they do cause I know lots of people using these brackets/adapters? Does anyone knows metra's Part number for a 4*6 to 6.5" conversion? the one I had was something 3300 but can't memeber the first 2 digit number...

Thanks

Is this it?

The front 4x6-inch speakers are coaxial on the LS and Z24. Use Metra adapter 82-3300 to install 5.25-inch or 6.5-inch speakers.

This is the page (for 2000 though)

yeah that adapter kit sound like the one i had, and it didn't come close to holding a 6.5", so yeah the radio holds the memory for the computer why heck can't the stupid computer hold it's own memory? and why is the adapter so u don't have to mount the radio in the back so freakin expensive?

Hey, let me tell you something

You know what you'd want with a K-car....EVERYTHING!!!! You've obviously haven't seen the video where I race a Toyota Supra and kick it's ***. I totally suped up that car with a NOS tank AND sticker. I even equiped it with a chrome exhaust tip for extra horse power. I also have a 1995 Dodge 4X4 for work. I suped it up so that it does 4 wheel brake stands. The front wheels turn forward and the back wheels turn reverse, I just hope that don't rip the frame apart. I used several cans of chrome paint to make tha wheels high performance. Wan't to see a picture?

Second, on the new Cavaliers and Sunfires the factory radio holds memory for the computer. And while the airbags etc. might function normally without the relocation harness, it can lead to error codes down the road when hooked up to the the factory diagnostic computer.
This is completely untrue. Go to the jbo website and do a search in the audio forum. The ONLY thing that will happen if you don't use the relocation kit is you will lose the chimes. That's it!
