Anyone have a 5.1 setup in their car?

With a DVD, the extra channels are imbeded into the stereo signal...there IS something to decode...but not with CD.
Isn't DTS the only true 5.1 soundtrack? Dolby digital just isn't the same. I think it's good for demo vehicles, but seeing as my car will never see a video screen it will never see more then a 2 channel setup. The speakers in your car are all way closer then the system in your house. I doubt it will create the same effect. I will be sure to listen to some of the DTS comp vehicles at USACi finals this year.

How the rear speakers are used is dependant upon what the engineer wants them to do. DD and DTS are capable of doing exactly the samething. Both are lossey compersion formats, and there has been extensive arguing about which one is better. It is my opinion (an opion that is shared by many people) that they both have there strenghts and weekeness.
The only surround format availibe off regular CDs are matrix formats (logic 7, Dolby Por Logic I, II and IIx etc...). This means that 2channels are converted to 5.1 (or 7.1 in the case of IIx and Logic 7).
