Why not just stay away from us cheap normal people....

I only have about $3,000 in my whole system. Maybe $3,500 installed myself.
I've taken up buying re-mastered CD's, because I can tell the difference, and I like it!

Dude i was just saying something good about your home made product relax homie

Interesting ... most people always exude the same confidence, and then virtually everyone who has taken "that" bet has lost. But most learned a little bit about psycho-acoustics as compensation for having their bubble burst.

even though i think this thread is kinda off topic now i just thought you should all know im going with Focal 165k2p's.. they sound great.. and they are available in a local audio shop that seems to know what they are doing.. and i can not find local cdt or dynaudio dealers and dont wanna spend 50bux in gas driving to toronto..

the sticker price on these 165k2p's is $899... im getting them for $799.. does this seem like a fair price? i belive it is... they are on ebay for $650
but who knows what your getting.. as focal doesnt authorize online sales...

anyway thanks for all the input guys... and **COMING SOON** a new thread about what sub/amp combo i should go with

Great speakers and a amazing price. Go for it!

The 165K2P models that have been previously found on e-bay were infact found to be counterfeit models. Focal has this information listed on their site and I have seen the counterfeit models here in the store as one of my customers got sucked in on the deal that was indeed, too good to be true.

i figured as much.. lots of crooks online.. i would rather spend the money on a local shop anyway.. even if it means a higher price..

Ok, time to delete your account and start a new one... If you're telling me I can't hear the difference between Infinity's 6010CS and Morel Elate's you're tone deaf AND high.

Why is it that every 6 months or so, some newbie dumbass like you comes on the scene and PROCLAIMS that you know all about audio and totally disregard everyone else on the board even though some of I know at least 3 guys on this thread personally (MR2NR, Sweetnlow, me) that have 20+ years experience in audio -- I am sure there are others as well.

By the way I have been in the studio to record 3 albums myself. To say we have "no idea" what "real" "live" music sounds like... is BS. Love of music and a desire to recreate a previous "experience" is how many of us end up in this hobby/industry....

Well 6tallpuppy, who the f*)k are you? What education/background/experience do you have or do you think you woke up one morning KNOWING everyone else is wrong? Just because you cannot hear a difference does not mean it does not exist...

I know Sweet n low and though the two of us do not always agree, the man has a VERY good ear and if you gave him two speakers I will put up my own $$$ to verify he will be able to tell you the difference between the two.

Personal attacks are uncalled for. And I am not disregarding anyone. Where are you reading that ?

I never said anything about anyone having "no idea" what live music sounds like. If I said that please point it out. I was referring to the compression technologies used in almost all commercial recordings. Commercially recorded music is the staple of the industry and is what is predominately available, and is what people predominately listen to. I am familiar with the so-called uncompressed audiophile recordings, but they are somewhat of an anomoly vis a vis the everyday listening experience. Uncompressed music is very dynamic, but totally uncompressed recordings would also be less than ideal if indulged in on a daily basis, and especially so within the confines of an car interior that is actually driven on the road. Therefore, no matter how good your equipment is, if you predominately listen to commercially recorded music, it cannot reproduce the "realistic" sound of live music, simply because the dynamic realism has been engineered out of virtually all mainstream recordings these days. That is a fact, not an opinion.

Thank you for a clever example of a witty comeback ...
Anyhow, I've been into car audio since about 1969/1970 FWIW. And ...I don't believe I said that I, or anyone else, could not hear a difference. You may want to go back and read it again.

Impressive, but irrelevant to the point.
