Changing Sub box position in the trunk ?

I wanted to know if it will make my car louder if i put the subs and its ports facing my back seats . I have a 2002 BMW 528i and it has mini port ( 6" wide and about a 1.5 foot long ) , Currently my subs are facing towards my trunk and the box is pretty long . I wanted to know if change the position and put them towards the seats , will it make it louder in the car ? By the way my sub box is built in a funny way and the subs are put on the side because its a lengthy box and the trunk is not that wide , there's about 4 to 5 inches of room on the side of the box and the trunk narrows down as it goes towards the seats , so any relation there or will this effect in any way ???
