Assuming your talking about the rockford 8250, there is NO digital output on it.. I think this has been posted 3-5 times in this thread.

It is my undersstanding that digital output makes up for not having to use RCA's correct. [/QB]
Kinda sorta. Yes it replaces rca's to the d/a.. After that you need to use rca's. Also you will loose radio. As well as the volume control on the deck.

What is the unit called that will trasnform the dgitial back to RCA so you can an what's the point... unless you are using amps with digital in ...all confused now . Perhaps someone can explain . [/QB]
You mean a D/A? (Digital to analog converter). PPI,Zapco,ID, & appoge make ones.. Depending on the D/A you might need something like a Audiocontrol MVC to act as a volume control.

So does Esoteric, but it would need to be modded for 12v....if you had the money....that would be THE D/A to get. Very nice peice.

That, Sir, is un-real.

What's more un-real, is the fact that, if I sold my car, all my stereo equipment and my left nut, I probably still would not be able to afford one.

Well, I could probably get 5K for my left nut because someone would try to make babies with it and then there'd be a whole bunch of dead sexy baby me's running around.

I've played cd-r's on mine and it plays them all wonderfully. Sure they're not the greatest when burned off an mp3 or wav, but for convenience, it's great. Richness of the sound is still better than my old sony c910/xdp-210 combo and nak-45z.

Only thing is I find the 8250 to get fairly warm. I ended up putting cooling fans on it 'cause the heat is just makin me nervous!
My DCT-1000R get's warm as well especially in the summer... Still runs fine after 5 years in use...

There is an NIB Alpine 3900 Burr-Brown outboard D/A converter right now on Ebay. Do a search. It's a wicked nice piece.
