When you bridge an amp, you're also raising the distortion ration at the same time. The salesman lied to you. They'll do that. The box would have said something like 150 watts, but that's peak for the pair. RMS each would be more like 35 watts. Depending on what kind of enclosure the speakers wanted, would have depended on what x-over point that they would have liked and would have made a major difference on how much clean power they could have handled. When in doubt, underpower a little rather than over power at all.

Yes, well, the "Bridge the TC4004 for ***** & giggles" experiment is over. Put everything back the way it was. Lesson learned.

72wrms per channel is fine. I'm simply not willing to risk the UP6 components because they sound so darn good the way they are, and thats to MY tired ears. I can only imagine what they sound like to someone with good hearing.

The "JL" speakers i took out were NOT JL. They are from company called TMA which is supposedly owned by JL according to the intarweb. I got these a few months ago when I didn't know JL from JBL or JWL or any other damned thing.

There is a sticker on the bottom of the speaker stating "150 watts rms".

The magnet is heat treated blue in some areas...that would be me.

Next time i get out to the garage I will post pics of the sticker and magnet for laughs.

Sounds like you blew up substandard gear, and the voice coil on those things was probably very weak. I feed over 250 watts a side daily and I could for hours to my front end without problems.

I think the UP6's will take 150wrms each, but I'm too chickenshit to try it right now.

When I have cash in hand to buy the Irridiums, then I will try 250wrms per side

Forgot to add the pictures like I said I would. The image quality blows, but they CLEARLY say 150rms on the bottom.

My speedometer goes up to 260km/h too but I doubt the car would last very long there...

I always tell people, "When it sounds bad, turn it down". This saves a lot of speakers.
