help finding the correct port tuning

I have a single 12" 12.2 Bassworx subwoofer that I am trying to figure out what I should set the port tuning to. According to their website it says port should be tuned to 34hz.

Bassworx has a nifty tool to input your subwoofer and it tells you what enclosure will work best for you and ranks them via %. The Bassworx enclosure SWP12B (48 hz tuning) is best suited for my subwoofer according to their site The next best match for boxes is the CP12B (48hz tuning.)

I listen to a lot of rock and really love hard hitting drums. However, I also listed to some rap/hip pop and would like something that handles the lows well.

I am confused as to why the specs for my sub would say tune to 34hz then recommend an enclosure that is tuned much higher

I am hesitant to go buy the CP12B as I would not be able to return it. Any thoughts on whether 48hz would be a good tuning point or should I custom make a box tuned to 34hz.

Thanks
Reference www.bassworx.com for their online tool.

Usually 5 hz over the Fs gives a good musical (flat) response. So, the manufacturers recommended 34hz should sound great. The higher you go the more peaky the response. Otherwise known as a burp box. lol If going ported be sure to have a subsonic filter.

I'd go custom with the recommended 34hz.
