1300 watt's means Peak (aka nothing) look for RMS watts. Get the perfect 12 if you want infinity. I'd take one perfect 12 over 2 of the reference series.

Foam isn't always crap! it actually has better acoustic properties than rubber, its only weakness is physical damage resistance. so put a grill over it to protect it.

In a slightly higher price range there are MUCH better options. The alpine Type R V.2 comes to mind.

Of course telling us what your goals are would be a good first step. Are you after Loudness or Sound Quality?

How much Power (RMS watts) can you supply the sub(s)?
How much room do you have for your enclosure?

well, if your looking for sql, id stay away from type r's they get loud yes but not very cleen sounding, especially in prefabbed bassworx box's.....

whats your budget and we can suggest some other options.

btw whats the model number on your sony amp, never go by max power.....

your amp is 900w RMS!!! (at 2 ohms) you got to stop looking at the max power thats B.S

If i was you, Id get a pair of duo 2ohm voice coil subs that like 400wrms each. wire them parallel/series to get a to ohm load. option # 2 here......

Rockford Fosgate® - Woofer WiringWizard

as for subs, If you want SQL i say DC level 3's, MB Quart, RE, Fi.....I dont really know what you have in kingston, but id stay away from Infinity, type r's, kicker, ect.....and be careful when buying used.

also, please, please, please dont buy a pre fab box. a well thought out enclosure is so important, id pay to have a professional to design you a box to the stats or the subs you decide on/trunk size/tunage desired....and build it your self.

i can build my box my self. i built a box for my 15'' sub. but i just made a non-vented box since the sub isn't that good. i'd draw up some desiqns that i think would work best and ask your opinion. but i have to get some subs first
