I honestly don't know much about awards or competition. Just personal experience. I was making a blanket statement based on something that I don't know 100% about, that is true. my bad there. But from the many hours of research on the forums over the years, MTX doesn't seem to be mentioned in terms of SQ. Perhaps Ive missed it.

Is MTX known for their SQ subwoofers? I know their Amps are decent.

I'm just trying to help him get focused on more complete system. I didn't hear any mention of Front stage for this "SQ" system is all.

if you look at this like a complete system, perhaps different choices would be made. Just tryin to help.

@illinja: MTX isn't known for SQ or SPL, despite the way they hype themselves up. I don't mind the amps, hell I own one, but I can't see myself ever competing with them. Too much hassle. I hear where you're coming from on the "SQ" build. Here: http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/onli...tml#post588872
That's the best way I can explain it, and you more or less proved the point I was making. I'd love to share my ideas on an "Ultimate" SQ setup with the OP, but I have to be realistic about it... The ideas I have are expensive, time consuming, and requires skill to complete. To get to the level some of the people on this very forum are at is very overwhelming for someone who's basically just getting into the SPL/SQ scene. If the OP wants a sub that slams hard on a budget, I can respect that, I think we've all been there. Start small, then keep building up and learning, that's what it's all about

I used to own the Infinity Reference component set and an Infinity Reference sub.

The components were way too bright, the tweeter sounded terrible. And there speakers are overpriced.

The sub was O.K, but I would never buy another one.

I now have the Morel Tempo components and the Infinity Reference line are NOTHING compared to these.

Morel makes high-end stuff so you can bet their low-end is a hell of a lot better than another brands' "value" set. Morel probably uses the same technology & materials throughout their lines.

OP, how much space you got? What 15 do you currently have? How much space is it in? A ported 12 or 15, something like an Fi SSD, Q, or BL, would be really cheap & loud. You can probably find one used for $150-$200. A BL 12 is $274 new without options and the SSD 12 is $174 new without options.

i have a MA audio 15'' 800wattmax (dont remember the RMS) 6ohm. about 4 years old. but i have recently aquired a 8'' or 10'' MTX series 7500 or 8500. (i think, ill have to check again) but this little subwoofer almost out performs my 15''. i bought the 15'' for $40 knowing that it was my first sub and it ill get me going on the right track. but i never expected it to be that bad that a 8'' or 10'' would out perform.
