My insurance companys is charging my an extra $12 a month to cover me up to $5000 of audio equipment. Is this the going rate? It seemed a litle high but I don't want to take any chances.

Let's see...$12 a month, that's $144 per year. It's a spit in the bucket my friend. I'll move to where you are.

Here, the going rate is around $13 per $100 for the year. So if I wanted $5000 stereo insurance, it would cost me $650 per year.
I guess that's the stipulation from having government controlled insurance.

 

I guess I'm fairly lucky, I get coverage for $1500 at no extra cost...but I would say $12/month for $5000 of coverage is definitely worth it!

 

I pay $2 per year for every $100 of coverage and I have $4000 coverage. So its like $7 a month, well worth it IMO.
