I think most car and some home audio shops would be screwed without something similar to compare and contrast. And I have on numerous occasions compared and contrasted cables in my home system (where it is easily done … compared to doing it in the car like a certain mad man in a BMW) and there is little doubt that there is a difference but sheesh for something that is fairly obvious it sure does get difficult to explain since all the explanations sound like dark magic and are essentially marketing hype.

This is the operation of the ABX box as it's original designer intended. Yes, many are hand made (remember the poor bastard that invented the thing got hung with it) and who knows what variants are out there. I am only familiar with the "proper" unit.

Monster is trying to promote their stuff.
You think a company that has fooled the general populous that their special cable that costs $1/ft to make and are selling it for $1,000/ft are going to inform the world that they're wrong and all cables are the same?
I wish I could find it, my friend found a set of speaker cables (note: SPEAKER CABLE) ... for 6' costing (I can't remember) $13,000 US or $30,000 US. Wanna know how they convinced the world they're good? They put a carbon fibre piece in the middle, made the sheath pretty then simply said the infalliable "Who would put $50 cables on their $200,000 system? You have a bigger ***** than that!!!"

^ Sorry my goof, thought you were wrong but it was me
J Dunlavy and RC both have made and/ or are holders of patents on cable technology’s
Mr. Dunlavy has made some of the finest larger home speakers in the Dunlavys and the Duntechs.

The extra "pricey" cables are probably from May audio marketing. The used to work with Bruce Brison producing MIT cables, but now they have their own line. Jack and Karen Sumner I think the owner's are, Transparent Audio is the brand name.

As a side note - I always enjoy reading Monster Cable's propaganda. The way their page reads their entry cables are the be-all and end-all and yet their upper end cables are somehow EVEN BETTER!!!
I agree - the XLN Pro is a fine example....of marketing...
It amuses me [/QB]
