Some will thats true some screw you over. The local guy around here has a 9861 for 900. I asked him what he could do for me since i was buying a crap load of stuff. 800 was the lowest. So if i can get one for 500 im taking it. And before i bought a amp and asked him if i could test it and if i didnt like it if i could take it back. He said sure but when i went to take it back a couple days later, in the exact packaging and shape/condition i was SOL. Needless to say I told him off and said i was never going there again and will never tell anyone to go to him

Alot of the dealers around here need to have the whole deal threatened before they will even think about dropping prices. At that time, I am usually pissed off and going to another store anyways...

Wow, so that's how it works is it? Come in and threaten the dealer? I'm going to have to try that one day with my suppliers and see how it works. I'm pretty sure it will get me nowhere in a hurry. Why not try and find a good dealer and build a relationship with them, that way you both benefit. The dealer earns your business, you get good value for your dollar. Value is not just on price, but service, warranty, product availability, shipping time, after sale service, information and being available.

Silverbane, not trying to pick on you at all, just your comments is all as it shows a mentality that is too often seen by a demographic. Your comments show that personally, that is a store or salesperson I would avoid. I did indeed notice that you also mentioned that by then you were on a way to another store, thank you for allowing a CDN business to earn your business.

This is a prime reason that I do not allow my store to operate on a commission basis. The commission salesperson always and I repeat always sells what they make the most money on or what is in stock instead of finding out what the customer needs for their application and then getting it for them if it is not there. In the larger centers like Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton etc, who cares, that customer who walks is replaced by someone else two minutes later. Here in my small town I do not have that luxury, every single person helps me make a modest living, pay the bills here, keep 2 people employed full time and occasionaly take the guys out for roast beef dinner night for a job well done. It is really simple, the good dealers out there are the ones that have survived based on giving good value to their new and existing customers. I encourage you guys to try us sometime.

Perhaps even this forum is too good for some of you as it is chalk full of people who come here with the answers to information you seek yet you seem hell bent on not caring about anything except the price. Wait a minute, this forum costs money to operate, yet here again is a thread chalk full of people who take only and do not care about how much things really cost to operate. How many of you have ever made a donation to the site or do you think it is free to operate? Yet here you all are taking what you need and thinking nothing of it.

While I as a vendor here on the site do indeed get business from some of the people here, and those people all are 100% + feedback, the rest of you are so money conscious that I can hear the queen crying as you pinch the penny. Place some value in the site and the good people on it. Allow the good stores and vendors of the site the opportunity to EARN your business.

<end of rant> Having one of those days guys....

I am saying I usually go somewhere else before that point, but some places would benefit from helping out on a place. For example, I went to with a buddy to buy a bunch of equipment. We were offered a price for the parts. Some prices were good for it, some were not. We went to another place for some more prices. Returned with better prices on some of the parts.

Asked them if they could match the price (Not even beat them). They told us that no, because the whole setup was a 'complete price' they would not drop it.

We told them we were gonna go to another store for the purchase and began to walk away...suddenly they were able to BEAT the price and knock a few bucks off of some of the other components. We still didnt buy the stuff there because he was an ...

Only my 2 cents but you're crazy to buy new stuff off eBay and send your Canadian dollars out of the country to some guy that could care less if he ever hears from you again. Why wouldn't you want to support the same guy that can TRULY make or break your system? I don't see any eBay retailers on here helping anyone, that's for sure.

If you're going to ask a guy to help you hook up your amp, least you could do is buy the wiring kit off him!!!! LOL

But hey everyone likes their steak a different way whatever blows your hair back, giv 'er.

eBay is great from the old stuff that the dealers can't sell you obviously and I've had great experiences with all that.

Ive boughten from Smartass, hes an online store. Everything went smooth because at the end of the day i could call him and talk to the owner.
Everyone here could do the same with this guy. What about Crutchfield? Didnt think so.

I really have no interest in talking to customer service reps or techs of a huge online store that dont care about anything else than the bottom line.

For me, warranty, customer care and knowledge is soooo important. I cant stress that enough. anyone who thinks its free or should be free is NUTS!!!

Every sponsor on this board will go out of their way to assist you, even if they don't carry the stuff, unselfish. And that doesn't stop here, there are plenty of stores like that out there that want to make a sale and are interested in advising your properly.

So for me, i stand behind a store front shop or atleast an online retailer that deals with his customers direct.

I cant count how many times summit racing has lost me in the shuffle. They don't care. In 97 crutchfield messed up a HUGE order of mine, $7000 of crap. I took the money and went to Car Stereo Warehouse. I learned a lesson that many others will learn in the future, you pay for what you get.

Moral of the story, online huge etailers may save you a few bucks, but its not worth the frustration in the future if something goes wrong. I will pay for what veteran installer knows!
