I agree with Smartass as for the clarions, theyre loud, sound good and arent overly expensive
I got a PXW series 15 from last year its nice and loud and it only has 320wRMS going to it right now
Ive heard some of the 12s from this year and they seem to be nice subs too

 

You should go out and buy something that nobody has really ever heard other than burped at a local SPL comp.. (internet start up company!)

The brand must be something that the mainstream people dont really know or it wont be that good and you wont get the respect you deserve.

Brands like : RE, Adire, Atomic, are a great starting point, but those brands will soon loose there luster in the SPL world so make sure you keep on top of things or you might end up like all those people who bought Beyond Audio.( apparantly not good anymore).

Take for instance shitty companies like RF and MTX. They made OK woofers back in the day but it has taken other cool start up companies to buy there old baskets and use similar design of 10yr ago to finally bring respect to those woofers.

Example: and Old MTX woofer from say 97ish if you were to ask peoples opinions, they would say it sucks, but a startup company who uses essentially the same parts and old design now makes it the coolest woofer around.... ( Instant respect from people )

I'd go with the W7. Got one myself and love it. I've tried MTX 9500 before and wasn't very happy with them.

 

your enclosier affects the sub allot, make sure its good too

 

I'm all about the Infinity and Alpine equipment!!!
