Looking for specific Gain-setting CD's
#1
Hey people
A while back, long before i got a new computer, i had either paid to download, or just downloaded two cd's worth of music. Each cd had like 16 songs, which were essentially test tones along with the first song being instructions which was nice.
This part probably won't make much sense but it had various test tones at a 2:1 ration and 3:1 ratio (or something similar to that).
Anywho, made it a lot easier for setting the gains for the subs. Essentially picked the ratio you wanted (ratio may not be the correct word/name) and then chose it's respective track, and just listened for a change in pitch on the track as you turned the gain up.
I realize the above isn't a very good explanation, but that was a solid couple of cd's that made life strangely simple for someone as anti-smrt as myself. If anyone has any idea what i'm talkin about it'd be greately appreciated.
*edit*
doh i think i found it, but the website doesn't appear to exist, or at least be working anymore. Anyone recognize this link:

there are some tones here:
http://hometheaterhifi.com/down/
including:
1 kHz - Minus 5 dB
Use that tone to set your gains by playing it through your cd player with the amplifier gain at the lowest setting, and adjust the gain until you hear the tone change.
Also on there is a 50 hz warble tone that is great for level matching your home sub to your mains.
This site http://www.realtraps.com/test-cd.htm has some great tones and instructions for plotti8ng you sub reasponse (great for sub placemnet testing, home and car).
