im in edmonton, and yup i have heard the exact same thing about these e1800d's, very picky amps.

wires supply the power to the battery to store it, electrical components in the vehicle consume the power stored in the battery.

without an alt, you wouldn't have **** all for power to use in the battery, after the current charge was depleted.
Yes, the alternator charges the battery which powers everything in the car. A Red Top has 910 amps storage. Its going to take a ****ing long time to deplete that, and with any size alt slowly recharging it it will take hours of continuous listening to be powering it with only alternator.

canadianbronco is right on that one, im in electronics and mechanics and just happen to be doing car audio in electronics and car wiring in mechanics and it seems asthough thats exactly what the whole deal is. and dont get me wrong i dont wanna sound like a know it all kuz im not just adding my 2 cents if any one cares
