george has no idea what he's talking about. there's nothing unsafe about the minor mods i've done to the power supplies. It's no more of a hazard than that computer you're on right now. It's not like they are modded to put out more current than they do in the computer.. just modded to put out what they're supposed to without being connected to a PC.

and for thoose who actually care and arent just here to poke fun, i've made a smaller power supply today [img]smile.gif[/img] it's got 4 boards in it, and is good for about 80 amps or so. The only problem i have with it is the inability to go up to 14.4 or 15 volts [img]smile.gif[/img]

oh, and dave, total cost of my new power supply: $12, including the 16GA sheet steel i welded up for the case.

The little Pyramid supply is an OK unit, and it's nice that you can crank up the voltage.

I like how those cascade powwer supplies look just like a computer psu just a little bigger...

and the computer psu has a very good protection circuit so there should be no worries...

what happens if you short circuit that cascade power supply? a fuse blows? well with the computer power supply, the thing will shut right off.. and there is a fuse for a backup [img]smile.gif[/img]
