I want to know which of these subs I should buy. I have an Alpine mrd-m501 already. I want to use a single r-series alpine. My question is: Which oe of the 12" subs to buy the 2+2 ohm or the 4+4? And if someone could explain what the reason so I know for the future. Thanks- the guch

Use the dual 4 ohm version - the amp you have is a mono block and designed to be ran at 2ohms.

Using the dual 4 ohm version of the sub will give you the 2 ohm load.

But if your'e planning on ever adding a second sub........!!

well, you need a 2 ohm load, so if you want 1 sub, then get the dual 4 ohm sub (4+4) but if you want 2 subs, get the dual 2 ohm subs (2+2) that way you can get the most out of your amplifier.

Try and figure it out before you buy, cause after makes it very difficult to integrate another sub if you choose poorly. If you think you might want more bass later then go with the 2+2, since your amp can still drive it very hard with 225 watts at 4 ohms. When, if, you get a second sub that's the same then you can run the two parallel and your amp will be used to it's full potential at 2 ohms. i am assuming you know about series and parallel wiring.
