opinions on this subs

I did a bit more looking around for you.
http://www.crutchfieldcanada.com/Alpine_Type_S_SWS_1023D_10_Dual_2_ohm_Component_S_ p/500sws1023.htm
On sale right now at Crutchfield Canada for $140. Also qualifies for free shipping...
Bring that back to the shop you dealt with, and have them match it. $140 + 13% tax = $158.20. $60 for a box, and you're looking at $220. There, I just saved you $65. I wouldn't be surprised if you can get that sub for even less. $120-$135 even.
Have fun.

i just went on the bestbuy.ca and it was under 10" subs, has them listed for $207.99, and their cheapest box for $39.99.
no sorry its the type r not the type s. i dont know why ive been saying "s". i guess if the link had have worked u would have caught me on that screw up lol
no the "type s" isnt that much better then the "type e" which is cheap cheap but if my crappy amp and push a "type r" then ill go for it

Okay. So you've been thinking that the TypeR is the way to go? I just had one of these in a sealed box in my car, that I borrowed from a buddy. Just to get a sense of what the sealed box felt like. It's a nice sub. Definitely felt this sub hitting, the TypeS in my bandpass, plays low, but you don't feel anything.
The box he has it in is not a proper box. He picked them both up at a pawn shop...
Its entirely up to you. When you started this thread you were saying that you were looking for an inexpensive sub to show you buddy his setup isn't all that great, we determined that the TypeE wasn't going to work for you, not two of them anyway. And one wouldn't be able to handle the power.
I still think you'd be happy with a TypeS in a sealed box. And, in the future you'd be able to add a second DVC2 sub, wire them for one ohm and find a more powerful amp. It'd be a decent setup. Maybe you'd need more output, which the TypeR would give you...
But your original intentions were to use your current amp, and buy an inexpensive sub to pound away on. If you're set on the TypeR, then you should be able to find that one for $180.

the same intentions, better sub/box combo with or for less. his set up cost $250-$300 and its just 2 10" reject mtx subs and a very cool looking but plastic box, it doesnt even have a divider for the subs its just stuffed.
now 1 type r in proper box seems like a good little set up id like to try, maybe something will come up or ill like the "s" better who knows but thats just further proves my point of cheap.
id like a 10" for myself because its easy to show him on the internet he has nothing to brag about, based on spec sheets. it would be funny as hell to put it in his truck lmao
ill give them both a listen and im not buying them all at once prob the sub first, decide on a box then down the road a bigger amp, the joy of E.I.
