Run a fused 12 awg wire directly to the battery, and run the ground to a solid body point behind the deck. When working at a shop that sold Alpine i noticed the cd players would skip when the voltage spiked or was restricted too much. Usually doing that procedure fixed the problem. That along with making shure the cd player is mounted properly should go a long way.
