Are you sure its a 9915? If so, you should probably listen to a 9515 for a better portrayal of how a 15 can sound musically... I think the 99's are a little on the SPL side.

Not guaranteed, but it certainly can. Be sure to consider overshoot and ringing. The damping capabilities of a driver certainly relate to the "sloppy" sound you may or may not hear and this is very related to the moving mass, which relates to cone size.Originally Posted by SPLN00B2
Cone size doesn't make a sub sound sloppy

While it may aid you in getting the sub you want in the price range you are after, consider that everyone's used subs are "never played hard" or "not much play time" or "need to downsize" etc. etc. etc. Is there a warranty on it, the single most abused item in a stereo setup? If no, I would pass on it like right pronto unless the deal is too good to be true and at that point in time, you really need to consider the fact that what could hav happened to that sub that the person wants rid of it for so cheap. To me, it screams, pass. Nothing like buying the same thing twice...... You are after a good speaker that commands a hefty price unfortunately. Ensure that you are protected on your investment with a warranty.
ya i dunno hard decision. i heard the 06 models will get louder anyway and has anybody heard about these subs starting on fire?? i read on a couple forums that they start there boxes on fire.

That was one situation blown way out of proportion that was created by abuse.Originally Posted by cky686

Who are you intending to buy the 05 XXX from? Between the two, that would be my choice, particularly considering affordability. I'm a big fan of that motor.
Then again, there's something to be said for a good dependable warranty. It's a tough call and will ultimately come down to what you are most comfortable with.
