Any overkill Is a bad thing if you are on a budget - plus big 3 requires short cables- I'm not sure what amperage is your alt but I doubt 1/0 gauge will really make a difference from 2awg or even 4awg... Remember that stock has 8awg wires that are not running directly to the bat and are often bolted to painted metal - talkig about upgrade?

Where does the ground cable on my battery actually go? It seems to snake down below the engine, and there's lots of snow on the ground today so I didn't want to get under the truck to check it out. Is that the wire that's going to the engine? Or is it going to the frame? And would it be possible to completely remove this wire and use 2AWG in place of it?

There's actually 2 wires on the ground terminal, one being standard 8GA and the other one is much smaller, will I need to rerun both these wires?

Negative off the battery usually goes to the frame.

Yes you can replace that wire, or just add the 2AWG on top.

Just run a short wire from a negative terminal to the closest bolt (make sure to scrape the stock paint completely)...And one from the block to the negative terminal (closest and safest path - make sure it won't ignite a fire)... do not replace any wires... Keep the other wires like they were... And the third one goes from positive terminal to alternator- again do not replace anything, just add the wire... Once more make sure it doesn't touch anything hot ... Didn't they make a sticky about this ?

I only wanted to replace the negative cable because if I cut it to attach a new terminal, it's not going to reach.
And second, my alternator has a proprietary plug for its output, not a wire that I can just add to, so I'm not sure what to do about that part.

Never heard of such alt... Kinda sketchy since a lot of current is passing through these wires (heavy duty plug? Lol) ... It's not gonna be too short if you cut it close and buy the new terminal (the ones I'm talking about have more reach than usual stock terminal... Other than that - attach the wire that is too short to the closest bolt on the body with a ring terminal (the one I mentioned before) ... And do the rest the same.... Be creative man

I already notice that my headlights dim considerably every time the bass hits even at 350W. It's not a big concern now, but once I get my new subs, what needs replacing/upgrading so that the lights don't dim anymore, and so that I don't destroy my electrical system?
Try to use a 5 F Alumapro capacitor!
It´s beautiful and small!!!

how many wires are coming from the alternator? did you replace the alternator yourself or did someone else?

some alternators have 2 wires going to it. 1 is the power leaving it and the second is a smaller (16guage or so) that is for sending power to the alternator.

I installed this alternator myself. I put a new connector on that came with the alt but it's the same plug as the old one, just alot cleaner.

My alternator has 2 different plugs, one with 3 wires and another with 3 wires as well. I assume that the plug on the top is the main output and it has two red/black wires and a smaller white/black wire. The other plug has 3 smaller wires, they don't look like they'd be big enough to be the main conductors for the current.

I was thinking and with such a weak alternator, would replacing the power wire do anything? I'm sure the wire that's there already is going to be perfectly fine considering that it was designed to easily conduct 60A.
