I got mine in bulk- 1.60/ft for 1/0 gauge... Look for private adds- best deal! Never in store - I think the local one charges like $8bucks...

And what's the difference between welding cable and car audio wire? I've heard that some people buy welding cable because it's cheaper but are there any positives or negatives to it?

I never worked with welding cable but I suspect it has thicker strains, and will be not flexible especially for colder temperatures... I personally would just stick to normal cable.
