I've always used the crossovers on my amps to determine what frequency my speakers would run at. Right now my system isn't sounding too hot and I'd really like to tinker with the eq on my cda-9835. My question is...How would I bypass the amp crossovers? Would I just set them to flat and setup the crossover on my deck? I want to know that my settings are accurate so I want to make sure only the decks crossover is controlling the sound of my speakers.

Ahhh the old I have a deck that is a pain in the **** to operate question (some have called this user UN-friendly)

This comes from a lot of Alpine owners these days in addition to other brands...

(I hate to slam alpine) but the alipine owners manuals cant keep up with all the new features...

i don't find the deck to be a pita. it's easy enough to browse through the menus and determine the settings. one thing i wish though is that alpine would elaborate a lot more in their manuals. it's like they have to abide by a word limit or something.

my concern is that i'll be mixing crossover signals and never be able to get the sound i really want.

does the alpine crossover autmatically cut the frequency from the amps when set?

 

Think of the amp's Xover controls as an extension of your EQ....

I generally set crossovers first, then tweek with EQ.. [img]smile.gif[/img]

 

It sounds to me that you are wanting to use youre H/U crossover?
It says EQ in youre topic? [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

If this is the case just set youre amps as close to full range as possible and cut the frequencies with the h/u.

I have my 9815 set at 80hz at #3 width right across,works for me,Though you can ajust to youre needs

sorry i didn't really mean EQ. I want the crossovers on my HU to bypass the crossovers from my amps.
i'll see how things sound with the amps at full range and the deck crossovers turned on.
