underpowered ?

first of all hi fellow members ,glad to be here, here is my problem, just had a new kenwood kac-9104d amp installed 900w at 1 and 2 ohm ,500 w at 4 ohm also installed 2 pioneer premier10 inch w2502d4 4 ohm dvc subs 800w rms each i am pretty sure the installer wired the subs to 4 ohm as thats what he recomended ,my question is are these sub not getting enough power because i have to turn the sub volume control on my head unit to full to get any kind of decent bass if i turn up the bass boost it doesnt sound good at all, i just replaced an old 12 inch mtx sub and an old mtx rt202 37.5w x2 at 4 ohms and 75w x2 at 2 ohms, and to be honest my old setup with the way smaller wattage sounded much better than my new setup ,do i need to add another amp so i get 900w to each sub or should i just put my old stuff back in ,thanks.

I would get a second amp and run @ 2ohm each or a larger one that will handle a 1ohm load well. Even though they might say that amp is 1 ohm stable, I wouldn't push it.

More power isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's always better to have a little more than you need. Those amps aren't that expensive. Just run with what you have for now then buy another amp in the future. Your subs are decent, maybe look toward a custom enclosure?

If the amp is ok at 1 ohm, why not run it at 1 ohm? the manufacterer says its ok, so if it blows warranty will replace it , no?

Re-wire the woofers to a 1 ohm load and back down on the gain

Make sure the installer wired the subs in phase as well.
