Used alpine R, hook up, help!

ok so im starting to get into the sound systems right, still a noob, and i got my first car about a month ago (99 mercury cougar)

ive been seriously searching for some subs now and am getting offers from all sides, here is the one ive been considering the most:

2 12 inch Alpine R subs (used)
Double sub box with custom green tint (matches my car)
MTX 600 Watt amp
Full wiring and capacitor and installation
No warranty

he says its valued at 1550$
hes offering me 650$

The guy is a friend of a friend and works at best buy in thhe audio department.... what should i do???

woah i thought that was more than enough info.

alpine r's are about 5 months old

the amp is fresh out the box and he said was valued at 500

on the sheet he wrote ''MTX 600.L amp''

it would be the MTX 6001. its 600RMS.

you're gonna want to check what the impedance of the subs are. i think they only come as dual 2 or 4ohm. for that amp you're gonna want to have the 2ohm. if they're 4ohm, then maybe running only 1 of the subs would be an option for you as well.

i also would see if you can talk him down from 650, sounds a little steep to me.

only other thing is i'd say that amp is pretty weak to be handling 2 type Rs. they'll handle 500W each, so an amp around 1000-1100W would be a lot better and you're much less likely to fry your subs.
