What you are talking about is skin effect, and it only applies to high frequency AC current...
Strand count helps make the wire flexable, and it actually increases the resistance of the wire slightly... (not enough to worry about though)

The best strand count is one. Past that, the higher the better, although, as mentioned, electrically the difference is virtually negligible.

1 went with 1/0 Shok Industries CCA to begin with, but still have dimming.. so purchased 4/0 locomotive cable.. should do the trick

they were reference... but might be due to the 2500 watt amp...
dont get me wrong.. the Shok stuff is great! but works out to be easier to do 1 run of 4/0 rather than 2-3 runs of 1/0

well from what i've been told 4/0 can be pretty tuff stuff to work with.
by the way does anyone have any suggestions on what to use to cut 2/0 welders wire??

^ A sharp serrated knife works.. so does a jig saw, or even a chop saw if you have one

I put a run of 4/0 in my car. Didn't really find it to be any more difficult than a 4 gauge.
And to the guy who had 20 runs of 4/0, how many metres was that?
