hmmmm more input voltage and they go into protect eh! Can I ask how mcuh input votage you are putting into the amps? I figured input voltage was the problem. I have some testing to do tomorrow.

We were not testing with a line driver. We had only 4 volts of input.

On a single amp at .5 ohms, it was loudest with 4 volts in it and the gains pinned. When we had them at .25 ohm, the gain was set at about half and we had to roll the volume up to full to get the best numbers. Even then, it would sometimes cut out before we got to 4 volts.

Also, when we strapped them on .5 ohms, only the master amp goes into protect. I am not sure if this happens in all cases.

ok you had 4 volts of input. But you were not using the whole 4 volts of input from the deck (unless you had the volume all the way up on the deck). If you did not have the volume all the way up you were not giving the amp 4 volts. Just to give you an example I have an Alpine 9815 the loudest volume is 35 but I burp at volume 29 as that gives me 1 volt of input to the amp.

Do you have access to an audio precision portable one meter? I wouldn't mind seeing those results. It would definately tell us which amp is better in terms of parts.

no I do not have one of those meters. All i have is my fluke multimeter and fluke clamp meter, I also have a pretty good dmm for current draw. All I think I need is another meter to watch impedence rise. But I will look into the audio precision meter.

We didn't have enough 0 guage wire to supply power to that baby. Maybe we can include it next time.
