Future Shop at one point and time did do there "House of Boom" SPL events and even had exposure with them in PAS mag, showing pictures of all the events that were held across Canada it did at the time give exposure to our sport but it never took off. I agree with you that it is needed to rebuild the exposure and get the fun back into the sport no matter what level he or she compete's at. I know in the West when people have there "Test and Tune" preshow get togethers we try and encourage people by having our vehicles present to show people what levels we take our vehicles to in trying to get the new generation to step up and attend and hopefully compete in an event, or at least attend to see what it is all about.

Although it did start by talk about car audio comps.I've told many people to join CCA. I like this forum over any other I frequent. I also agree with Yuli.
I feel peoples pain when it comes to long drives just to go to a competition. If/when I get my hands on a TL, I will also hold free local mini-comps, and/or test & tunes, just to try and build the interest back up. Seems like the competitions are all localized in small areas and everyone else either drives or doesn't bother because it's "too far". Local shows cost little compared to the cost of traveling to the shows for many people. Therefore they just don't go.
I don't know what it would take to get my local shops on board. I guess I won't know if I never ask. I need to know more about the costs and permits required before I can approach shops. I want to know what I'm talking about when I see them....
Now you got me thinking. Maybe, if a couple of my local shops join together, maybe something might just happen.
Good thread, none-the-less. Helps bring awareness to the situation and gets people gears moving.

i thought it did ok, all the futureshop shows here in Toronto were full of competitors and spectators. i competed in pretty much all of them back in like 1999.

I think if the there done in industrial areas theres not much they can do a buddy of mine owns a shop just outiside of town so I think were gonna host some shows there as he owns most of the land in the industrial park

as a shop the biggest thing you gotta worry about is noise polution. if there is residential area close to the shop then it's probably a bad idea to do shows there, or if other business are open beside it on the weekend that's probably a bad idea as well.

Only a few (VERY few) die hard individuals will step up.
Problem with things like FutureShop, or almost any other shop doing anything to help is their attitude of "whats in it for me? ($$)"...
....realistically, how many sales will be generated by a show?...how many of you are going to buy something from Futureshop because of a show?
...even IF they carried anything worthwhile, you'd find it much cheaper on the internet.
answer is that there is nothing in it for them, why would they bother?.....
