Ya, I use a hammer crimper for all my cables, then solder it & shrink tube it. I have one of those cheap glass Phoenix Gold fuses on one of my smaller amps... it came crimped only, I was shocked that they'd make it so cheap. But this is why I avoid all that PG shiny crap and just use Polarflex welding cable instead. Voltage drop? What's that?

I also crimp and solder my speakers wires, amp remote wires, all of it. Neurotic, yes. Problems? Never.

port it and you have a deal

but i have found crimps fail due to vibration over a longer period of time (yes useing a proper crimper) just my experiances.

You got me

I used to run a tool crib for a steal shop. Often the mig whips were abused and such so the two trigger wires at the base of the whip got ripped off, ect. The easy fix was to crimp on longer wires. I did this until I received many complaints from the welders that the wire feed paused now and then. So I started to solder and heat shrink the wires, and stopped receiving complaints.

Testing with my meter, the soldered connections had .2ohms of resistance wheel the crimps often went up to .8, not much of a difference, but apparently it is noticeable to a welder that burns a 45 pound roll of wire a day.

Just my experiences.
