They are cheap but so are many other amps out there.
Plenty of guys are pulling decent numbers with Sundown amps. Richard, the guy discussed that had 143.3 pro-trunk, had his vehicle up to around 149.9 dB from the trunk, FYI, before the rear strut mount broke on the vehicle. I don't think the car made it to a show with this score before the mount broke. His car would still currently be in the lead for pro-trunk barring the unfortunate damage due to the weight in his trunk. He is re-building in a Blazer and will be extremely loud again.

My brother is ranked very highly in nSPL no-wall 0-24 with a current score of 146.8 dB which, I believe, puts him second in that class this season. His install is limited by electrical capacity as that was with totally stock batteries and alternators with a single 1/0 run and no under-hood upgrades. His setup consists of 2x SI Mag D2 12s and 2x SAZ-1500Ds.

Robert Eldrige pulled a 157.6 at his last show at the head-rest and 160 in the Kick Panel, pulled best of show at that MECA event. He is running 4x SAZ-1500Ds on Shocker Sigs.

Ricky Harris is also pulling good numbers... 150s with 1x 15" woofer and 2x SAZ-1500Ds. I don't recall his organization or setup other than that at the moment, but I'm sure it's posted somewhere.

You will see a few more guys coming out this season with good numbers running Sundown amps. I'm not running a HUGE multi-million dollar company so thousands of people don't have the amps yet, give it some time and you'll see more coming -- keep in mind that Sundown is new to the market and great SPL scores don't appear out of thin air

Your next statement is also inaccurate. Loyd Lowry and Sean Belanger perfofmed the power testing posted on my forum which is often cited. They are not on my payroll and they purchased their amps -- they were not given anything. In fact, Loyd is working on a project with Mach5 right now and Sean is selling off his pair of Memphis 4kws in favor of 4x 1500Ds.

I'd be glad to answer any questions people may have... I don't see the reason for all of the hate for my brand as I have been doing everything I can to have the best service and quality possible.

More on topic... you will notice that most SPL subs use a 3" coil. A good 3" coil with well engineered cooling will handle tons of power. We have put up to 10,000 watts for around a minute or so on an FI Audio BTL. Thanks to the great cooling in that motor the coil was unharmed. The biggest DD woofers (even the Z) still use a 3" diameter coil, and DD knows what is loud in a woofer!

Most SPL sub builders that I have spoken with indicate that a 3" coil tends to be louder than a 4" coil. This may be due to the way the spiders are sized with most baskets, as I have also learned that 8 - 8.5" spiders tend to be louder than larger diameter spiders. This was handed to me from guys with real world SPL sub design experience, so take it as you will
