Hey guys... first off I have to thank Jacob for his patience on this.

Basically.. the deal is that I'm getting married in about 3 weeks and it's taking up almost all of my free time these days. Add teh fact that I'm judging a 3x TNE show tomorrow (small league around here) and I have 2 football games to play on Sunday and you guys can see that I'm a little thin here.

I'm doing my best to get these tests done. I manage to get a nights worth of work on them but didn't have the results I wanted. After talking with Jacob I I think I've gotten the problems figured out (entirely my own, not the amps)

I'm going to TRY and get them done tonight, but I think the wife has more wedding plans for me. We'll see if I can sneak away for a while though, if only to get a couple of tests done and not the full range that I'd like to do

Sorry man but screwing women takes priority!

I got them in tonight and will be using them at a show tomorrow. I think SPL score alone will give me an idea of where I'm sitting power wise. As a reference I did a 150.3 the last time I competed in this format with my pair of 2000w amps.

If I break a 49 or even 50 then I think it's pretty safe to say that I'm getting fairly decent power. (this won't prevent me from doing an actual DMM test though, so don't worry!!)

Ok... as an update, I scored a 149.9 with the Sundowns today. (a pair of the 1500's strapped to a pair of dual 4 Ohm Kicker L7's, 1 ohm final load, box rise to just over 3 last time I measured... single battery, car ON)

So I'm pretty sure they're making some decent power. I'm still going to do the tests with a DMM and clamp, but so far things are looking good.

Well it definitely doesn't SOUND good, it is a "burp machine" after all.

I'll have DMM/clamp readings some time this week. Just have to get a chance to throw them on. I'll also get an extra battery in the mix to help minimize voltage drops

Ok... so here we go, same setup as before. A strapped pair going to my dual 4 Ohm Kicker L7's... with the amps seeing 1 Ohm nominal.

Voltage dropped to 11.2v from 13.9

Current: 31.2a
Voltage: 98.2v
Wattage: 3063.84w
Impedance: 3.14 Ohms

So... with each amp seeing just a hair over 1.5Ohms and running on 11.2v they were putting out 1532 watts.

I'd say they make their power and a good bit more when they see 1 Ohm at 12v.

Sounds like these amps are ok finally ... i was surprised when you hit a better score with a pair of then on sunday versus the stetsoms ... i had my money down on the stetsoms ...
was quite impressive seeing that score from a pair of those.

Yup... on a straight drop in test (in the middle of a show actually) ... my score jumped from a 149.3 to a 149.9 just by switching from a Stetsom to the pair of Sundowns.

In defence of the Stetsoms they are definitely built for 16v (as we have been starting to learn) ... but they're still supposed to do 5kw at 12v. I'm thinking it's much less than that due to their inefficiency though
