Sundown testing... the build up.

At 160 amps of current draw you are losing ~0.8 volts in wire losses alone for an "average" 20 ft run. Not counting any losses at distribution blocks, fuse holders, etc.
If Jordy wants to include the actual voltage @ the amp terminals he can test it with 4 awg as an "extra" test, quite likely you will be seeing under 12 volts at 160 amps of draw. At under 12 it defiantly won't make 1500 @ 1 ohm, it takes ~12.4 volts to do so.

this is kind of a general type statement/question going out to jacob and to rip rock.
i have a sundown and i had lent my amp to brad for the testing in edmonton.
i run the amp with the gain all the way off as i dont have a good enough battery as of yet to supply the current.
i was wondering why the bass boost was all the way off once i got my amp back. i know the gain was all the way down because i run it that way all day long, but i am wondering why the bass boost was off, i mean i know now that the voltage going to the amp was 10.8 or something high like that and my deck puts out 4v so that could be the huge difference right there, but i was just wondering if turning this up a bit or all the way would have upped the output voltage?? oh and i wish i was tere to see your bajillion batterys in whatever of your sick and twisted cars/van/jeep you brought out...

If you're wondering why your bass boost was turned down when you got the amp back, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that somebody turned it down. Now stay with me on this one, I know it can be difficult to visualize these things...

thanks tips your a real quick one but i was just wondering if i had this bass aackwards and i should turn the bass bost down and the gain up or is there a proper way? kind of like a more bass boost or a more gain, which one will cause more clipping? because everyone knows distortion = mo powa.

Hey Jordy.
Seein' as how you're gonna be setting up a testing situation, why not get another amp to do in the same run.
There's going to be all kinds of BS afterwards about how you must have screwed up the test somehow, so if you have another brand as a referance it might give a bit more credibility.
Just a thought.
