i currently have an 880 and i jsut love it to death also keep in mind that i did have to do a ground loop around the rca to the back of the deck so i didnt' get the buzz in my speakers but other then that it has super strong 6v preouts plus the amazing 16band eq along with other amazing little things to play with and the crossover on it are great to use!!

i love mine end of story and i only paided 280 shipped!!!

The only other thing i would replace it with is like an elcipse 2009 deck those have like 8v preouts which would sound even better! sorry i don't remember the model number of the eclipse deck but it is the 09!!

Why should someone need to ground the rca's to fix a problem that has existed for 20 years.........

i don't know i jsut grounded mine and it fixed the problem 100%!! and i am very pleased!! i guess there is a bad internal ground on the rca's! so all i did to fix it was take some 20aug wire (might have been smaller) wrapped it around the black rca of one of the 3 preouts and then ran that wire to the back side of the deck then black taped it all in lol!!

and fix problem solved no more noise at zero volume!!! simple and took no more then 10mins to fix! but took about 1hour to figure out on my own on how to fix it lol!! and what was goign on lol!!

so is this your opinion or is this based on facts.... if it is based on facts back it up plz!!! b/c i have been reading up on preout voltage playing a good part in the SQ or your setup!! i have been reading about it on other forums like www.caraudio.com jsut do a seach there for preout voltages and be enlighted!

^Yes thank you... we all know CA is the place for all the best info.... no not really.

Let's think about it, preout voltage caries the signal, is more volts suppose to make a flute sound more like a flute? How would that work? It has nothing to do with that.

More pre out voltage means less chance of noise entering the system. That's it. So it might help lessen the noise IF you have noise. If you don't at X voltage then more voltage won't do a thing.

Lastely you rarely see your 4 6 or 8 volts your deck is rated it. That is at maximum output. Most of the time, if you measure it, you won't see anywhere near your decks rating in output.

The voltage should not improve nor degrade the overall SQ performance though it can improve S/N and volume level (agree with AAAAAAAAAA). I can not fathom anyone with any level of electrical knowledge saying the voltage output level makes a significant difference in SQ... increasing voltage increases the gain of the front end that is all... I dont go to CA for enlightenment I go there for entertainment... usually humor

The Pioneer 880 and the Eclipse 7200 are good decks with good not great features that pack a huge price to performance punch. I own the Eclipse CD7100 and am pleased with it, it is not perfect and the Pioneer is also far from perfect. I thought the Clarion DRZ9255 was a player prior to its cancellation too. Pioneers have often spoken about QA issues as does my Eclipse in very HOT or very COLD weather
