^ Converted? to? I still don't think the F#1 stuff should be that much moolah but, hey, that's just my opinion. I dorun a PXA-H700 though, but I am not using any EQ or TA right now - just the crossover.

One? I thought this encompassed the entire F#1 lineup? OH - you must be focussing on the processor.

How would using an H900 change the fact that it is too much money? Ohhh I would suddenly be enlightened to the bullshit that it sounds 5x better than other EQ/Crossover/TA items on the market? Unlikely. I mean, it costs 5x more than all the rest so I would expect, oh lets be generous, at least 2x better 'performance'. Not sure how one would judge that though. If this item was more like $3000 then that would approach reasonable.

Yeah I get the concept that there has to be the 'premium' product out there. Rolex, Mercedes, Armani have all capitalized on this concept for years - paying more to say you have it rather than for much real tangible advantage by owning/using it. Getting wayyyy out there on the return on investment scale.

Now what about those amps? What new technology makes them radically different then Alpine's previous offerings or any other premier amp company? Hell they're analogue in even! Again, pretty hefty tag...

As for the speakers - well IMO it is always with the speaker that the rubber hits the road. This is where the real differences are between products and brands and actually here I find the Alpines to not be SO rediculously overpriced considering what ScanSpeak, Morel, Focal, DLS, etc. offer in this range. They were smart returning to an OEM than trying to develop their own drivers from scratch.

So there ya go - IMO the speakers might be worth the money but the electronics are overpriced considering what comparable (or at least semi comparable) products are out there.

Good points Dukk! The processing out there right now is at a level where the bar is set quite high in competitor models, that the Alpine piece better be "that much better".
