I remember years ago when IASCA started, we were all using the Audio Control 31 band mono eq's. I can't remember who said it but one of winners at the finals in Tempe AZ, said, "If you need more than 7 bands of eq, it's time to redesign your system properly" That was over 17 years ago! With todays speakers and passive crossovers designed to work in the car soooooo much better, If you need more than 3 bands it's time to start over!

Joe's car is amazing. I don't care what he has hidden back there, it sounds pretty darn good -- from both sides to boot.

Automotive environment is harsh.............. but that's what seperates really good installers from those that just know how to re-hash internet forum discussions and BS.

The F1 package IS really nice......... don't get me wrong. But too often I've seen these F1 processor's used to fix things and hospitalize really bad installs ....... and then I have to listen to the installer/owner totally BS me about how faaaaaantastic their install is and how talented they are (to be able to build a total piece of f-ing garbage and fix it with electronics). I luv to ask to see the tuning settings on the processor(s).

If you're in the market for a good installer and these guys are demo-ing you stuff in a car that they built, ask to see the processing........... look to see how much is happening. As was said, less is oh so much more. This is a real indication of quality installs. If the car sounds awesome and there's very little processing, oh baby sign me up.

Same holds true when demo-ing speakers. Are you demo-ing the speakers or some crazy azz tuning ?!?!?!??!

IASCA should have a new catagory. Sound quality and no processing allowed.

Guys, the point of AlpineF#1Status isn't the price tag, or whether or not it can fix a bad install. It's design is based on a no-comprimise idea, using the highest grade components throughout. The newest models are DVD based, and offer true DVD-audio for a complete high resolution multi-channel audio solution - something few others can truly offer, including high-end home audio!

We all know that a great system can suck with a bad install, placement, etc. But you also cannot make good equipment sound great, even with the best install, placement, etc.

You get what you pay for, and ultimately for a lot less $$$ than the first gen models, you get a lot more bang for your buck now!

You are kidding right.................... because if that's what you think, you couldn't be more wrong. That's just ridiculous salesman style bu$$sh$t.

Defro, that's all the processing you need and you run F1 ? Baaaaaaah, ha, haaaaaaaa. Seriously though, when you take a step back and look from the outside in and really understand what an F1 processor can do on one hand, look at the receipt for what it costs in your aother hand........ and then look at how useful it is in your system all things considered, that's too funny. Yeah, I totally understand the "QUALITY" basis of the unit and it's flexibility........... and all the blah, blah, blah but ..................... BTW, so what's to say it's not going to take you a decade to get it right ?!?!?!??! Don't take a kick at others when you haven't gotten there yet yourself.

...or we can all do kicks and a-pillars with focal passives is that what we are aiming for?

Dave

What if you didn't bring your car out to the show after it was built? then do you count every day, week and month on top of the 2 month as install time?

The T-bird's first system was completed in 3 month, I used the car for demo for my shop and never competed. There has been many revisions and upgrade through the years. It was a platform for trying new gears and installation technique for the most Musical/lifelike sounstage. But if you want to count the hours my car just sits in the back of my shop while I do customer's car, after its been completed. Its just plain rediculous........ IMHO.
