Def....... I think you are missing the point here. Having flexibility and not using it does not take away from the product. What's funny is you decided to use such a powerful piece to do so little. It would be interesting to see if you could have had similar if not the same sonic results using something else for a mere fraction of the cost that's more directly applicable to your issues. I have no idea what that would be...... but would be an interesting experiment none the less.

Generally speaking, instead of building up to this ultra high end, too often consumers will jump straight to F1 while the rest of their system and often knowledge isn't even close to what F1 is all about. To me, F1 is abused technology. There are very few cars where the rest of the system/platform is so good that the weakest link is what F1 replaces. All things considered, the commitment to build F1 style is well outside the abilities, knowledge and commitment of time and resources of most. F1 is that good I believe. And I'm not only refering to the processor.


BUT........... like has been said before, it's your money and you have the rite to spend it how you please. That's the bottom line at the end of the day.

 

It's kind of a catch-22. The 900 is SO powerful and flexible and does pretty much anything anyone would need for car audio, yet if your system uses similarly-priced products of assumed very high quality, and the installation is worthy in scale and price of said high-dollar products, then it shouldn't need all the power that the 900 has, would it? It seems odd that a person would buy such an expensive unit for its power to fix such a poorly designed installation that could come from not spending enough money (time and skill = money) on it. Although, I'm sure that happens a lot.

 

I just want to say, thanks Dave for yet another compelling thread (thumbs up). It has been fun to watch the circles of logic, So far I have gathered this much:


F1 is very good and expensive (what... I can't buy a new Ferrari F430 for 15K?)

Install is important to the sound quality of a stereo (does that mean I should not tie strap speakers in place?)

Someone will always feel that if they can't afford something, it does not make sense or it is over priced (I am 3-4 years away from owning a PS3.... when it is $200-300 it will be worth it to me)

I don't think you HAVE to have anything in particular to WIN, but having something great helps... Thinks of it like F1 Racing, some years those on Michelin do better than those on Bridgestone, but things like testing, chassis, engine, setup and the actual driver have significance and importance as well if not more so.
