Calling someone the "best" installer in the world is like saying someone is the "best" painter... genius is genius, but there is more than one genius... thank the lord for that... and Guinness

I consider audio installations to be very much an art. As much as a great musician will transform the simple science of audible airborn vibrations into something that can be considered "a work of art", an installer can transform a complex blend of many different talents (auomotive engineering and mechanical repair, acoustical engineering, electrical, and electronic technology, cabinet and loudspeaker design, upholstery, autobody and paint, to name a few) into one awesome ride.
Blending various concepts, such as ergonomics, looks, sound quality, weight, reliability, ease of service, theme, statement and an overall "Wow affect", the end result is much more than a collection of sciences.
When you can accurately predict the final sound output, before an install, then is becomes a science.

The best installers I've ever seen, is Tim Baillie, and the team that did that Alpine RSX. That RSX still redefies amazing. Good God. WOW, I can't even begin to describe it, like

WOW, that car,........ so incredible. I'd do ANYTHING for an install like that in my mx6.
Good god, so so amazing, just out of this world

Tims Installs blow me away too, its quite the priveledge to talk with such an inspirational guru in the Car audio industry. really amazing

I'd love to see pics of Derecks and Pauls installs though, that sure would be cool

The world's best installer died, and went to Heaven. There was a big line-up at the Pearly Gates, and St. Peter told him to go wait at the end of the line.
Sitting there in his coveralls, he saw another guy, wearing Alpine coveralls, carrying a tool box go up to the gate. St Peter opened the gate and waved him on through.
Very angry, the installer approached St Peter.."How come I have to sit here and wait?...I was the best installer in the world!, and you let that other installer through ahead of me!"
"That wasn't an installer" said St Peter, "That was God....sometimes He thinks He's an installer!"

I believe there are elements of both. Think of Da Vinci -- was he an artist, inventor or both? Car install uses so many different disciplines and when you think about it there are so many different directs one can go in -- it is not just the end result, but how you get there.

On another note -- I am always more impressed with original thought than a knock-off copy. For example when "Eruption" first came out, it changed guitar solos -- everyone would play it to show how proficient they were; however, the real talent was Van Halen composing it.
