A Debate on the many different aspects of sound
I think audio is exteremly techinical. Like, here is a few links. its the first one that really got me interested into audio, I thought all this stuff was SOOOOOOOO cool, so totally cool, its all advanced physics really. Not only that, but knowledge of the human ear. I was talking to this audio guru, that does home and pro audio, and he did extensive studying behind the human ear. Apparently, African North-American people have longer cochlea's then we do, therefore they can hear lower frequencies much better then a caucasian can, like, its really interesting. Like one thing that I thought was cool, was this order pioneer of modern audio. I think it was (____) Thiele. (I forget his first name) but ever hear of "thiele and small" parimeters? Thats him! but he said that "loudspeakers dont neccessarily have to be perfectly accurate, they just have to cast sound through the air in such a way, that when it reaches your hearing, it produces sound in such a way that is believable and realistic... in short... perfect"
I thought that was really cool.
I always wanted to learn more. I think Audio is such an incredibly cool thing, one thing that I always thought was neat was how a car audio sub in a home audio environment can produce sound waves, that aren't neccessarily audiable, but still move through the air, and cause things to shake and vibrate. (ever try that, Its so cool, I'd love to see that explained on MythBusters or such.)
Like, check this link out

IT really expands your mind about all things audio. Its all very technical math, and so cool too.
Ever hear of Linkwitz/Riley? as in that certain crossover type? thats him! send him an email, totally cool guy.
This Dipole 12" sub is really cool, like I say, its all just math.

You know what I love about this forum? being able to talk with audio geniuses like Paul and Dereck that already know most of this stuff. I know little, and I always love to learn more. Its really fascinating stuff.

Like, as if this stuff isn't cool!
This is Linkwitz' techincal design layout, behind his Thor, dipole subwoofer, like the one in the above link of mine

Like, just when a person thinks that they know lots or even "enough" about audio, they read something like that, and they're like
, wow, okay
, what the heck is THAT!!!!!?
Its funny, of how quickly they're humbled.
All I have to say about "know it all"s like that is

like check out this tweeter eh? is this cool stuff or what? its $1200 for each one, but they are arguably the worlds best tweeter, they literally contort the metal upside down cone, to create sound waves, in a 360 degree dispersion pattern, (is that cool or WHAT!!!!!)
This is the worlds best speaker manufacturer, they're best pair costs $250K USD

Why is that so hard to belive? It is well documneted that oriental people have less sweat glands and there earwax is considerably drier. And it is true the the shape and length of the copchlea affects sound.
