equipment race - get out out it

Brandon, do you write for President Bush?
"you can buy the same drivers off Solen for 500 bucks at the most"
"I was just throwing a number into the air."
"I would dare say, without checking with Solen first, that you could get the Revs for much cheaper than a Utopia set "
Use the this link:
www.solen.ca
Then post your opinion.
Quotes from Bush:
"Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children."
George W. Bush
"The vast majority of our imports come from outside the country."
George W. Bush
...and my personal favourite:
"It's time for the human race to enter the solar system."
George W. Bush
Still amused,
Adam

good business practice is doing the absolute most to get the absolute best for clients, and not settling for just good, when great is attainable. by pushing the boundaries we create new heights by which all other will be guaged, its by not being satisfied with just good that allows new standards to be set, and demands products like f#1 status, denon z1 and products like them to be produced, it just depends on wheather you are satisfied with just good, its a good thing that there are people who build the best of the best, it makes me any many like me strive to be the best at what we do, and separate us from the rest who are satisfied with being just good, and good for them, its their right, we all have out limits of reality and what is sensible, some just higher than others, it doesnt make us irresponsible business people, i defines who we are and what we are trying to do, imo

I have used Sound Stream SPL components for years ($400), then I use Rockford Fanitic Q ($599) and now Macroms ($1500), there is a differnce! But I will say the Sound Stream out performed the Rockford in every way. So price isn't everything. I agree the great equipment is important, but a $5000 set of Rainbow speakers...I call bullsh*t...

If the install is there, the higher and higher you climb up the equipment tree, the smaller and smaller the differences become in the end result, and yet the price rockets up on the gear exponentially. It all depends on WHERE you are in the game. If you have ACTUALLY achieved a level where the gear is the limiting factor, then it’s going to cost you more and more to achieve smaller and smaller improvements. Just because you buy gear that costs thousands of bucks, don’t expect a 1000 fold change in your system. It’s doesn’t work that way. I still believe the first 80 to 90% can be very noticeable. After that, the prices are exponential and changes can be minor. Playing in the expensive gear game isn’t for everyone, especially those that don’t understand how the price versus results game works. But for the few that understand it, you find that for the most part, they don’t talk about it, as they already know that most people will not truly understand why someone would spend $16,000 on a set of 3-way components for example. BTW, I’m not part of the expensive gear crowd. I don’t have the time or experience to build and setup a truly ground breaking high-end system nor do I feel that I want to do so. My current car has a BOSE system in it……….. factory installed. It works for me………. for now anyways. That may wear thin soon though.

how can you determine at what point the gear has become the limiting factor in sound improvement, especially in cars, just so there is no confusion, this is a simple question with no malice intended, i just wonder how i, or anyone for that matter would come to that conclusion, what would the process of elimination be to ultimatley conclude that a system could not be made to sound any better with its present gear, and the only way to make it better would be to change gear, eg, speakers, amps, processor etc?
